Types of readings
This form of divination is named after Marie Anne Adelaide Lenormand, a famous French cartomancer who lived in the 1800s. It is unlikely that she ever used Lenormand cards as they were introduced after her death. Just like Tarot you will notice that there are a variety of Lenormand decks available. In a Lenormand deck there are 36 cards. The meanings of these cards are fairly static and not reliant upon the interpretation of the image like Tarot.
Tarot is an ancient form of divination. The earliest “modern” deck was the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, it was the first to have fully illustrated cards in both the major and minor arcana. The Tarot is a deck of 78 cards consisting of 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana tell the story of the Fool’s Journey. Each card represents a stage in the journey of the Fool, and by proxy, our own lives.
Each Oracle is different. Typically these decks are very specialized and are used to look into specific things. I use Oracle decks when there are specific needs that a deck I have addresses. These are clear and very direct messages that are easily understood.
